Correction appended.
The Athens Police Department received a report of rape Saturday night.
According to the report, a 19-year-old woman told APD she was a victim of rape on the West Side of Athens.
The case is under investigation. No further information has been released as of press time.
This is the fifth rape reported to area police since Ohio University's Fall Semester began.
In the first case reported to OUPD, an unknown man pulled a woman into an unknown residence hall either late Sept. 1 or early Sept. 2 and raped her, according to a police report. In the second case reported to OUPD, a woman was forced into a vehicle at about 10:30 on Sept. 1, driven to Wray House and raped, according to that incident’s report. In the third case reported to OUPD, a woman said a man she knew sexually touched her without her consent Wednesday and used force after she told him to stop, according to that report.
In the first of the cases that was reported to APD, a man sexually assaulted a woman off-campus Sept. 2, according to a police report. In the second case reported to APD, a mandatory reporter told police that a suspect known to the victim sexually assaulted them in a residence on the east side of Athens on Aug. 25.
