Query A Queer: What is Query A Queer?

Query A Queer is column in The Post that Ohio University's LGBT Center uses to answer questions, curiosities and queries, and we offer the opportunity to have them be anonymous for whatever the reason. The questions can be as simple or complex as one would like as long as they are geared toward sexuality and gender identity. We ask the questions come from a place of genuine curiosity and not in a malicious way.

Folks can use this platform as an opportunity to ask any questions they may have wanted to ask a queer person, but did not want to offend someone or did not have the accessibility to do so. When asking the LGBT Center questions, people should not live in fear of offending the staff members for the questions they have — asking questions and having open dialogue is how folks learn. If something is problematic or offensive, in our answer we will explain how it can be problematic or offensive and then continue on with the rest of the answer.

We are here to serve our students and community and and that means everyone, including folks that do not adhere to the LGBT+ community. There are many ways someone can submit a question for Query A Queer — we have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr (anonymous access) and Pinterest. We also can take submissions from our email lgbt@ohio.edu with the subject QAQ and are always happy to take any in-person questions if folks stop by the LGBT Center at Baker 354 and leave a message for Cassidy Paul (Outreach Coordinator/QAQ).
