Jo Wilson is going to file for divorce from her husband on 'Greys Anatomy'

One Grey’s Anatomy character is going to take fate in her own hands. Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) decided in Tuesday’s episode that she is going to file for divorce from her abusive husband Paul (Matthew Morrison).

After Wilson turned down Alex Karev (Justin Chambers)’s proposal and he beat up Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) last season, Wilson revealed she is married to a man who abused her. Instead of filing for divorce, she changed her name and started a new life. She hadn’t decided to file for divorce until now out of fear for Paul finding her.

After operating on a lawyer who specializes in domestic violence cases, she takes a few moments to ask him his advice. He said there is no law that will protect her from him, but that shouldn’t prevent her from filing and “being free to live your life.”

In the final moments of the episode, she told Karev her plans and that she is in the running to be chief resident.

“I don’t want to hide anymore. I want to fight my own battles,” Wilson said. “I’m going to file for divorce from Paul.”

Not only will the divorce alleviate a lot of pressure on Karev and Wilson’s relationship, but it will open a lot of doors for her career. Wilson will finally be able to be publicly proud of her accomplishments and will not have to hide with as much fear.

Some fans took to twitter to discuss Wilson’s decision:
