The American Collegiate Hockey Association released its preseason top 25 Thursday, and the Bobcats were ranked No. 2.
The lone team ahead of the Bobcats in the rankings is the team that stood between Ohio and an ACHA title a year ago: the Central Oklahoma Broncos. The Broncos, who received 29 of the 35 first place votes, have won the ACHA championship two times in the last three seasons, most recently against Ohio last year.
The Bobcats, while in second place, received zero first place votes. No. 3 Minot State received four. No. 8 Lindenwood and No. 12 Colorado each received one vote.
The Bobcats begin their season Sept. 22 at home against John Carroll.
