Good morning,
The Toledo Zoo is mourning the death of a beloved primate.
J.J., an orangutan, died Saturday at the age of 45, the Toledo Blade reported. Born on Oct. 3, 1971, he was the oldest male orangutan in captivity in North America.
While J.J. reportedly enjoyed interacting with the zoo’s guests, particularly children, he loved to watch football and The Price is Right — though he apparently lost interest in the latter after the retirement of longtime host Bob Barker in 2007.
“He was an incredible ambassador for his species and will be dearly missed,” said Jeff Sailer, the zoo’s executive director.
