Hockey: Ohio unveils new home jerseys for 60th anniversary season

Ohio unveiled its new home jerseys Friday for its upcoming 60th anniversary season.

The new uniform pays tribute to the first ever Ohio hockey program, which began in 1958-59.

The throwback look, which dons three green stripes across the waist and sleeves, a more generic "Ohio" lettering on the chest and the number on the front of the jersey, is nearly identical to that of the team's first-ever home look.

“We wanted a uniform that reflected our roots here at Bird Arena,” coach Sean Hogan said in a news release. “I think we did just that.”

The jersey also has Ohio's 60th anniversary patch on the right shoulder. The patch will be worn on both home and road jerseys, but the latter jersey will remain unchanged.

The Bobcats will debut the new look in their season-opening games against John Carroll on Sept. 22-23 at Bird Arena.
