Disney Channel's 'Recess' celebrates its 20th birthday today

Some of your favorite TV characters are celebrating 20 years on the blacktop today.

Recess, a Disney Channel show, first aired on Aug. 31, 1997. The show aired more than 120 episodes through six seasons and ended on Nov. 15, 2001.

If you needed another reason to feel as old as dirt, the show hit 20 years old today, another friendly and subtle reminder that TV shows won't be the same ever again. This whomps.

The show followed six fourth-graders, each of whom had their own relatable personalities.

T.J. was the daredevil and main character, always pranking teachers and doing genuine good for the rest of the playground, while he was alongside his friends: Vince, Gus, Mikey, Gretchen and Spinelli.

Vince was the athlete, Gus the dork, Mikey was... something, Gretchen was a nerd and Spinelli was a bully.

If you were like me, you watched Recess everyday after school, wishing that your recess seemingly lasted three hours too.

Come to think of it, kickball sounds really fun right about now.
