Peyton White won his second tournament of this season Sunday at the Rutherford Intercollegiate played at Penn State’s Blue Course.
He shot a 209 (-4) for the tournament to win by three strokes.
It was White’s third first-place finish of his career, and his second outright victory.
“That’s some of the best golf I’ve played all year,” White said. “It was awesome to get a win in my last regular season event.”
White got his low score by playing well on the Par 4s and 5s. He shot -4 on those holes on his way to leading the tournament with 16 birdies.
“I just hit it well all week and made the putts I needed to keep the rounds going,” he said.
White’s performance led the Bobcats to an eighth place finish overall. The host Penn State took the top team spot.
Two other seniors participated in their last regular season event as Ty Herriott shot a 220 (+7), which tied him for 13th, and Tom Nettles tied for 45th with a 227 (+14).
The Bobcats will next go to the Mid-American Conference Championship on April 28-30 at Longaberger Golf Club.
