Women's Golf: Ohio excells at Lady Colonel Classic

Ohio finished four in its tournament this past weekend in Kentucky.

Ohio used strong performances from four of its golfers to finish in fourth place at the Lady Colonel Classic on Saturday in Kentucky this past weekend.

After finishing second in the tournament last April, the Bobcat's used individual success to get a second consecutive top-five finish at the Lady Colonel Classic.

As a team, Ohio finished in Richmond, Kentucky with a score of 934, a tally of 70-over-par. The Bobcats earned fourth place as a team.

To no surprise, junior Hailey Hrynewich led Ohio, shooting a 228 for the weekend, finishing 12-over-par. Her final round was a score of 79 (+7) after shooting a 74 and 75 in her first two rounds. Hrynewich won the Lady Colonel Classic last April after shooting an even-par 72.

Three other Bobcats finished in the top 20. All three of them shot a 237 (+21) and finished tied for 19th place for the tournament.

Senior Angela Codian, who has been the number two golfer for Ohio all season, shot a 77 (+5) on Saturday after shooting rounds of 78 and 82 in her first rounds to give her the final tally of 237 (+21).

Another strong performance from a senior came from Lauren McKinzie. The Medina-native shot an 80 for the final round, getting her to a total score of 237. She shot a 79 and an 80 on Friday.

Lily Pendy recorded a score of 81 (+9) Saturday to finish her tournament at the 21-over-par mark.

The Bobcats will be back on the course again April 8th and 9th in Bowling Green, for the 2016 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. Ohio finished 5th at that tournament last April.

It will be the final outing for Ohio before it heads to the Mid American Conference Tournament.
