Peyton White's performance at Hoosier Invitational helps him earn MAC Player of the Week.
Peyton White was named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week on Thursday after tying for first place at the Hoosier Invitational
He is the first Ohio golfer to tie for medalist honors since 2008, when John Mlyarski, who was a freshman at the time, earned medalist honors at the Piper Intercollegiate.
"It's a nice honor to be recognized for that," White said about the announcement. "There's a lot of good players in the MAC, so it's nice to get that."
White shot 2-under in round one and 2-over in round two, for par.
The tournament was supposed to be a 54-hole event, but was brought down to 36-holes because of rain and wind in the afternoon on day one.
White shot seven birdies throughout the tournament. Three of them came on the front nine on day two.
"It was really good," White said about the win. "It felt like it has been a long time coming. Had a couple chances and just couldn't get it. The team had a good weekend, which is good leading into the MAC's."

Ohio will head to The Greenbrier, site of the PGA Tour event The Greenbrier Classic, in White Sulfer Springs, West Virginia.
"It's great," coach Bob Cooley said. "It's is great for him and the program. We expect him to do it every week now that he has gotten over the hurdle."
