Candidate for Ohio University’s vice president for Student Affairs position drops out

David Parrot was one of finalists for the vice president for Student Affairs, but he withdrew from the search on March 3.

A candidate for Ohio University's vice president for Student Affairs position is no longer in the running.

David Parrot, one of the finalists for the vice president for Student Affairs, withdrew from the search March 3, Megan Vogel, special assistant to the vice president for Student Affairs, said.

Parrot was scheduled to present at an open forum Monday morning in the Living Learning Center on South Green, but the event was canceled. He is the executive associate vice president and chief of staff at Texas A&M University.

In February, it was announced that the three finalists for the vice president for Student Affairs are Parrot, Ricardo Hall and Jason Pina. Hall and Pina remain in the search, Vogel said.

On Feb. 24, Hall presented at OU and Pina will present at the Living Learning Commons on Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

OU’s former vice president for Student Affairs Ryan Lombardi accepted the job as vice president for Student and Campus Life at Cornell University before leaving OU on July 3. After Lombardi’s announcement, Dean of Students Jenny Hall-Jones was named interim vice president for Student Affairs and July 1 was her first day in that position.

The search firm Brill-Neumann and Associates has been working with a search committee chaired by Executive President and Provost Pam Benoit that includes faculty, staff and students. OU is paying the search firm $70,000 plus expenses, according to a previous Post report.

The selected candidate will be announced before the end of Spring Semester, Vogel said.
