Post Haste: It takes a lot to shut campus down; A Columbus business is lined up to move onto Union Street

But campus did get shut down for a bit yesterday.

Good morning. Here's what you need to know for Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016:

Tuesday morning, Ohio University students woke up to a satisfying text message: “Ohio University Athens Campus closed due to snow storm (sic).”

Some speculate that text message might reappear on phone screens around Athens this morning. If it does, here’s what had to have happened, per a Post story from last year.

“According to the university's official procedures, McDavis or his designee closes classes if there is a wind chill twenty degrees below zero or a Level 3 snow emergency,” a Post reporter wrote last January.

Those involved in the decision making process also “consult various university officials” and Ohio University Police Department.

Before two winters ago, OU hadn’t canceled classes due to a weather event since 2009.
