Women's Basketball: Ohio seeks revenge after last year's loss to Eastern Michigan

Ohio and Eastern Michigan will play a MAC Championship game rematch Wednesday night.

Wednesday's game at Eastern Michigan has undoubtedly been circled on coach Bob Boldon and his Bobcats' calendars since last year.

The Eagles were the only team to beat the Bobcats at home in Mid-American Conference play last season. Ohio would get the final plaudits though, winning the regular season title and the MAC Tournament — beating Eastern Michigan in the title game, 60-44.

The Bobcats are a remarkably similar team to the one they were last year, despite losing Kat Yelle and Mariah Byard. Senior guard Kiyanna Black, who is averaging 16.8 points a game while leading the team in field goals attempted and made, has taken the scoring burden for Ohio.

Junior guard Quiera Lampkins has proven a worthy deputy to Black. Lampkins leads the team in assists with 2.9, while also averaging 14.4 points and 4.7 rebounds while playing a team-high 32.6 minutes per game.

Ohio will need both Black and Lampkins at the top of their games if the Bobcats hope to beat Eastern Michigan.

The Eagles are 11-3 this season and have only lost one time on the road to a tough Kentucky team.

Eastern Michigan is averaging 77.3 points per game and shooting at a .410 clip on the season. It also averages 11 steals a game and boasts an impressive 43.6 rebounds per game.

The Eagles outpace the Bobcats in each of those categories, but look for Black to put the team on her back on the offensive end and go shot for shot in Eastern Michigan's Convocation Center.
