The Bobcats will compete at the Michigan State Open on Sunday.
The Big Ten is like the Mid-American Conference’s older brother. Whenever the MAC plays the Big Ten, it tries its hardest to compete against some of the best athletes in the country and certainly the region.
Ohio (3-0) is looking to change that, however, as they head to compete in the Michigan State Open on Sunday. The Bobcats previously beat Michigan State last weekend.
“Michigan State is a big tournament, and we’ll have an opportunity to wrestle some Big Ten teams,” said coach Joel Greenlee. “We need to go and beat some guys that are ranked ahead of us, and obviously beat the guys we’re supposed to beat, and try to climb the ladder a little bit.”

In terms of the Big Ten’s wrestling prowess (the conference had a combined 147 wins last season, good for a .620 winning percentage) the Bobcats are eager to play teams in the Big Ten.
Big Ten teams typically make it to the national championships, as it has some of the best wrestling squads in the country. Northwestern, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State will all compete at the Michigan State Open.
“We have to find out how we compare to them, not necessarily how we compare to us or anybody else, but how we compare to the best teams in the country,” said Greenlee.
As the Bobcats progress through the season, they look to continue to dominate against one of the premiere conferences in the country.
“As a team we just want to continue to dominate, continue to put it on someone,” redshirt senior Cody Walters said.
