I only left the house once this weekend. I wish I were kidding.
Even worse, it was to go to the grocery store to buy spaghetti squash (which I made last night, it was delicious). I then watched nearly every episode of Silicon Valley. I'm sorry to say that I didn't do too much reading this weekend, though I'm almost finished up with Young Money by Kevin Roose. Baby steps, everyone.
Anyway, this week wasn't a total loss. I did read some excellent examples of journalism. Here's a few examples:
1. The Post's Luke O'Roark wrote this piece about Ohio redshirt sophomore forward Khari Harley, and his endearing relationship with his mother, Drexelle Price. When Harley returned to his New Jersey home with a back injury, his mother wouldn't let doctors discourage him from basketball. This very mom-like quote is included: "But for me, I was like, 'Uh, you can play.' He was a little damp. It was a little tough and I had to not be in 'mom-mode' and cheer him (on) and say 'You can do this.'"
2. The Houston Chronicle wrote about one woman's journey to find housing for her family, paid for with the subsidy included in a housing voucher, within the short amount of time allotted to her. In Houston (and likely elsewhere, too), some vouchers are returned by their recipients after a lengthy battle to find a landlord willing to look past their lack of income.

3. Elizabeth Backo writes about the Athens Community Music School for The Post. The school offers relatively inexpensive music lessons for residents in the city and county. The program is a part of Ohio University's College of Fine Arts and teaches piano, woodwinds and guitar lessons, though students could ask for instruction in learning a more unusual instrument, such as a banjo, if they wished. One teacher said: “There are no excuses or saying, ‘I can’t work with this kid.’ That just means you’re not good enough. That kid is perfectly able to learn many, many things — anything.”
4. One Bloomberg reporter did something I would totally do if I had the time or the means — purchased a barrel of crude oil, just for fun. If you're like me, you'll find it hilarious.
