Ohio baseball's 2016 schedule includes matchups with Notre Dame and Ohio State.
Ohio’s 2015-16 baseball schedule was released Thursday, just more than three months ahead of its season opener Feb. 19.
The Bobcats, led by coach Rob Smith, prepare to defend their 2015 Mid-American Conference tournament title, which earned them an NCAA tournament bid for the first time since 1997.
Ohio’s 2014-15 campaign was the best season turnaround in the NCAA. The Bobcats finished 36-21 just one year removed from an 11-40 record.
Ohio will open in North Carolina against UNC Asheville for the second straight year. The Bobcats swept last year’s series against the Bulldogs.

Highlights of the schedule include a home game against Ohio State on March 29 and a three-game series at Notre Dame from April 29 to May 1. Notre Dame and Ohio were seeded in the same NCAA regional of last season’s tournament.
Ohio is scheduled to play its first 11 games on the road, with series in North Carolina, Alabama and South Carolina, plus a single game in Georgia.
The team’s home opener is March 11 at 4 p.m. against Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).
