The Weekender: Put on your costumes, Athens

Here's what to know about the Bobcats favorite weekend of the year.

Halloween — the time of the year bobcats have looked forward to for centuries (probably) — is this weekend. If you haven't been on campus for the festivities before, be careful. You will hear it from RAs, upperclassmen and probably even the professor or two, so it has to be true. Make sure you have a buddy for the night, and figure out a meeting spot in case you get separated, because there will be limited cell phone service with the thousands of party-goers.

We also put together several stories about the local holiday. Read up, before heading out.

Bands of the Block Party

Post Modern: This week, it's about parties.

"Blaring music seeps through the cracks of the house along with the muddled voices of guests. Cups or bottles in hand, people mingle together in a sea of bodies. Some are dancing. Others are swaying their hips to the beat. Friends huddle with friends and observe the scene. A line for the bathroom spans the whole upper floor. Playboy ranked Ohio University the No. 1 party school because of its “year-round antics,” including fests and Halloween. In 2012, The Huffington Post ranked the Athens Halloween Block Party the third “craziest college party.”"
