Next time someone's empty stomach needs something to sober up, Big Mamma’s Burritos may be on their minds.
Athen’s own Big Mamma’s eatery stumbled into the 11th spot on BuzzFeed’s Best Drunken Eats In College Towns Across America list.
Big Mamma’s owner, Quinn Schaller, got a Facebook message from a friend Wednesday morning who notified him about the restaurant's national ranking.
“It’s always exciting to get national attention,” Schaller said.
He added that it’s nice to see people appreciating what everyone at Big Mamma’s is doing.
Ohio University students agreed with BuzzFeed’s ranking, saying the burrito shop is a quick and cheap option for a night out with friends.
”I think it’s great. They’re fast,” Sami O’Brien, a sophomore studying sociology, said.
Brooke Siggers, a sophomore studying global studies, said Big Mamma’s uptown location and inexpensive options make it a place she likes to eat with friends.
“I love it. I go there a lot,” Monica Robinson, a sophomore studying fashion merchandise, said.
Among the 43 restaurants selected for the best drunken food list, a few other Ohio schools made the list.
Miami University’s Bagel and Deli — rival to Athens' Bagel Street Deli — neared the top of the list in third place.
Below Big Mamma’s at No. 24, sits Ohio State University’s 24-hour Buckeye Donuts, which offers anything from mozzarella sticks to doughnuts for bypassers.
