Women's Golf: Ohio places high in Illinois tournament

Ohio places fifth in tournament in Normal, Illinois.

Ohio debuted its 2015-16 season at the Redbird Invitational on Sunday, placing fifth out of 16 teams. Through 72 holes, the Bobcats shot 62 over par for a three-round score of 926.

The course, held in Normal, Illinois, was a par-72 course that runs 6,086 yards.

The Bobcats had an exceptional first round as they finished with a score of 305 — the same score they achieved in the final round. The team shot 17 over par in the first round, enough for the second-lowest score in the first 18 holes.

Through the first two rounds, the Bobcats took advantage of big shots and made a total of 23 birdies — the most made by any team in the invitational.

Junior Hailey Hrynewich shot for par (72) in the first round — good enough for first place. Hrynewich would finish fourth with a three-round total of 223 and seven over par. Hrynewich was also responsible for one of the two eagles made so far in the tournament.

Behind Hrynewich was sophomore Lily Pendy, who shot a third-round score of 75 and finished in 37th place.
