Ohio breezes past Seton Hall and Utah in advance to an anticipated match-up against host Louisville.
The Bobcats were "sweep crazy" this weekend in the Active Ankle Challenge, defeating Seton Hall (25-20, 26-24 and 25-19) and Utah (25-16, 26-24 and 25-17) in Louisville, Kentucky.
Against Seton Hall, Ohio was led by its forces in the middle, senior Karin Bull and redshirt freshman Katie Nelson, who combined for 16 kills and nine blocks.
Then, Ohio sophomore outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek paced Ohio against Utah with 13 kills, while defensively senior libero Meredith Ashy recorded 23 digs.
Ohio senior setter Abby Gilleland, the maestro of the Bobcats attack, tallied a total of 73 assists during a span of the first two games.
The Bobcats battled in the second set of both matches so far this weekend, finishing each with a score of 26-24, which shifted momentum toward the Bobcats going into the third sets.
The win against Utah — following a win earlier this season against Kentucky — marked the first time in a season Ohio has beaten Southeastern and Pacific-12 Conference opponents since 2003, when Ohio defeated Arizona State and Kentucky.
Coach Deane Webb is now just one win shy of his 400th career victory, as Ohio will play host Louisville in a packed house Saturday night at Cardinal Arena.
