Rape reported to OUPD marks sixth alleged sex-related crime in Athens this semester

OUPD and APD have received six reports of sex-related crimes during the Fall Semester.

The Ohio University Police Department received its fifth report of a sex-related crime yesterday morning. The reported crime was classified as a rape.

The crime occurred Monday night at about 9:45 p.m. at O'Bleness House on South Green.

A female reported that a male she knew engaged in unwanted sexual conduct with her.

This report marks the sixth sex-related crime reported in Athens since OU students returned to campus.

The case is still under investigation.

OUPD also received a report of gross sexual imposition Sept. 10.

According to OUPD records, a female student said a male acquaintance had sexual contact with her.

Other crimes were reported Aug. 29, Aug. 30 and Sept. 5.

The Aug. 30 report was received by the Athens Police Department and reported a sexual assault, according to a previous Post report.
