Ohio prepares for home opener against Liberty and looks to speed up its offensive attack.
The Bobcats spray Pruitt Field with water every practice — something they do to speed up the field in hopes of having quicker gameplay.
This "quicker" offensive preparation in practice has translated to their play so far this season, as the Bobcats have scored nine goals in four games. They only scored four goals in their first four games last year.
“We’re excited with where we are on (the offense). We’re young up front, as Hannah Kingsbury is a junior, and she’s the oldest one on the front line,” coach Neil Macmillan said. “We don’t have a lot of experience up there, but they are getting better as time goes on.”
Macmillan mentioned that the rest of the front line is composed of freshmen and sophomores.
Though the Bobcats have produced well on the offensive end, the team’s goalkeepers, Lina Trucco and Alex Pennington, have totaled 21 saves. Senior Adele Sammons expressed how beneficial this is for the rest of the defense’s confidence.

“It’s really important for us because we know we have someone behind us that we can trust,” Sammons said.
This past weekend, Sammons racked up her fourth assist of the season — tying her career-high.
With the Bobcats at 2-2 in their first four games, the team has also shown significant improvement in terms of morale and mentality.
“All around I think the team’s mentality is a lot better than it was last year. I think it’s a completely different team,” Trucco said.
Ohio will play its first two home games this weekend, as its will play No. 17 Liberty Friday and Appalachian State Sunday at Pruitt Field.
