Ohio kicked off its 2015 campaign with a victory over Austin Peay in straight sets, winning 25-17, 25-16, and 25-23.
Friday’s victory was their third straight win in an opener.
Sophomore outside hitter Jaime Kosoirek led the offensive charge for the Bobcats, totaling 14 kills. Not to be outdone, senior setter Abby Gilleland led the team with 30 assists.
In her collegiate debut, freshman middle blocker Katie Nelson had five blocks and nine kills. Also appearing in her Ohio debut was libero Erica Walker who had two digs and one assist.
The Bobcats continue the Mortar Board Premier tomorrow in West Lafayette, Indiana with a 1 p.m. contest against VCU and a 7:30 p.m. showdown against the host Purdue.
