Two Athens County adults were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine with a juvenile in the home, a first-degree felony.
Two Athens County residents were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine with a juvenile in the home, a first-degree felony offense, according to a news release from the Athens County Sheriff’s office.
“'Manufacturing methamphetamine is a felony of the second degree but is elevated a degree when done in the vicinity of a juvenile or in a school zone,” Sheriff Rodney Smith said in the release.
On Friday, Aug. 14, the Athens County Major Crimes Unit located a methamphetamine manufacturing lab at a house located on State Route 682, according to a news release.
The residents, David S. Patrick, 51 and Amanda K. Newlen, 35, were sent to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail, according to the release.
The case is ongoing, and additional charges are expected, the release said.
