Roderick McDavis stepped into the position of OU’s president in 2004, but he’d been affiliated with OU for much longer.
McDavis was an undergraduate student at the university and received his bachelor’s degree in social sciences in secondary education from OU in 1970.
McDavis went on to earn his doctorate degree at the University of Toledo, and he was previously the provost and vice president for academic affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University before he became OU’s president, according to McDavis’s curriculum vitae.
McDavis’s office is in Cutler Hall on College Green, and his job is to lead the university and oversee its operations.
Up until March of this year, McDavis lived at 29 Park Place near the center of OU’s campus. However, after the discovery of bats which infested the house, McDavis and his wife were relocated to an off-campus residence, 31 Coventry Lane, through a lease-to-buy agreement made by the university. Currently, however, it doesn’t seem that McDavis will be living there for long, as Stephen Golding, a top OU financial administrator, announced April 13 that he will not recommend the Board of Trustees and the OU Foundation to purchase the new home.
