Three finalists have been selected for the position of chief information officer at Ohio University, according to a university news release.
The finalists — Chris McCoy, Craig Bantz and Kenneth Pierce — will all be interviewed on campus in April, according to Joseph Lalley, senior associate vice president for Information Technologies and Administrative Services.
OU’s current interim CIO, Duane Starkey, assumed duties for his position in July 2014 after OU’s previous CIO, Brice Bible, accepted a new position at the University at Buffalo.
Starkey currently makes $127,739 per year.
The CIO is the university’s senior leader and is tasked with developing and providing administrative, enterprise, financial, and strategic information technology services to the campus, according to the release.
The CIO position is part of OU’s Office of Information Technology, which has a yearly operating budget of about $23 million.
Around 195 staff members report to the CIO, according to the release.
The university has also arranged open forums to allow each candidate to have a chance to speak with the OU community.
In order for regional campuses and those not on campus to participate, the forums will also be streamed and recorded.
McCoy is currently the associate vice president and CIO at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota. His forum open to students and staff will take place April 6 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Bentley Hall 236; the faculty forum will be April 7 from 12 to 1 p.m. in Walter Hall 145.
Bantz is currently the associate CIO at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His forum open to students and staff will be on April 8 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Grover W115; his faculty forum will be on April 9 from 12 to 1 p.m. in Walter 145.
Pierce is the vice provost and CIO at the University of Texas San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. His forum open to students and staff will be on April 15 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Bentley Hall 140; his faculty forum will be on April 15 from 12 to 1 p.m. in Ellis Hall 024.
