Owners of The Fluff Bakery and Catering announced Monday morning they would be selling the property, and that the new owners would have control of the business.
Popular local eatery The Fluff Bakery and Catering is for sale, its owners announced Monday.
The bakery at 8 N. Court St. is currently owned by Jessica and Jason Kopelwitz, who made the announcement Monday via social media.
“Jason Kopelwitz and I are looking for passionate entrepreneurs who share our dream of a bakery/cafe, and promoting our local farmers and artisans here in Athens and our region,” Jessica wrote in a Facebook post.
In a comment below the Facebook post, Jason said the couple is preparing for a newborn and wishes to focus on their family.
The Athens Real Estate Company, 540 W. Union St., will sell the business and is currently asking for $165,000, according to the real estate company’s website.
Kitchen equipment, furnishings, and the menu are included in the lease, according to the site, and the business comes with a procedures manual outlining day-to-day operations for the future owners.
After being sold, the current owners will train the new owners.
Russell Chamberlain, a realtor working with the owners, declined to comment.
The Bakery has been in business since 2010, taking the place of Cold Stone Creamery, which had previously held the property, according to a previous Post report. In recent months, the company acquired a liquor license, expanded its menu offerings and slightly altered its name to include the word “The” during a rebranding effort.
“We hope to continue to create and to support economic development here in Athens,” Kopelwitz said.
