Maines: Redefine the definition of diversity and minority here on campus. I think that people kind of make it a racial issue, and I think that people don’t understand that diversity and more or less being a minority isn’t a racial issue …

What is one problem Student Senate has that you would like to fix?
Maines: Representation. ... There are three academic disciplines that aren’t currently in Student Senate that should be: business, education and health and sciences.
Why are you the best candidate for president?
Maines: The traditional approach that we’ve seen prior has worked to a degree, but I think that the solutions I have via our platform and via our candidacy ticket can really bring change.
