Devin Sudman decided he will no longer run for the position of student trustee.
Devin Sudman has dropped out of the race for a new student trustee, leaving six candidates to vie for the position.
Sudman, a sophomore studying engineering technology and management, cited a stronger focus on his academics as the reason for his decision.
“It is wise for me to stay focused and keep my eyes in the prize with my degree, so I will not be taking on any more tasks distracting me from graduating in time,” he said.
Elections for student trustee will take place April 14th to 16th, concurrent with both Student Senate and Graduate Student Senate elections.
Students can vote for candidates via an online portal.
“I told (Sudman) that I respected his wish to withdraw and wish him the best of luck with his studies,” said Mitchell Smith, chairman of the Student Trustees election.
This year is the first that students are able to vote for a student trustee candidate. The name of the election’s winner will ultimately be sent to Ohio Gov. John Kasich for approval.
