The Bobcats grabbed seven top-10 finishes at Marshall, including impressive performances by senior Janiece Rose. There is only one more meet this season before the MAC Championships.
Ohio’s indoor track and field team notched seven top-10 spots at the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, West Virginia, over the weekend
Senior Janiece Rose dominated the field and recorded a personal season-high in the shot put with 13.31 meters and the weight throw with 17.44 meters. She took first place in each event. Also in the weight throw, junior Donyelle Brown and sophomore Emma Ryan followed up in second and fifth place with 17.18- and 15.14-meter throws, respectively.
Sophomores Taylor and Tajah Smith held their own on the field as well, placing second in high jump (1.60 meters) and fourth in long jump (5.11 meters), respectively.
On the track, sophomore Tara Tollett lead the way with her first place, 17:44.03 finishing in the 5,000-meter dash. It was Tollett’s best performance in that event so far this season, having marked a time of 17:52.44 the last time the team competed against Marshall at the Thundering Herd Invitational late January.

Junior Hayley Stegemiller also recorded a personal season-high in the 800-meter dash with a third place finish at 2:17.36. Fellow juniors Peyton Adkins and Kristin Winkel grabbed fourth and fifth place in their respective events, the 3,000-meter dash (10:30.01) and the 60-meter hurdles (8.92).
To close out the meet, Ohio’s 4x400 relay team of sophomores Amanda Sacha and Mackenzie Rankin, freshman Kaitlyn Logan and Stegemiller managed to get fifth with a time of 4:02.41.
On Friday, the Bobcats will go to Columbus for the Buckeye Tune-Up, their last competition before the Mid-Atlantic Conference Championship meet.
