Coach Clay Calkins has faith in the team’s abilities and hopes that the work they have put in during practice will translate in their MAC meet performances.
This weekend, the Ohio track & field team will travel to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, for the Mid-Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships.
Last year at the meet the Bobcats finished 11th out of the 12 schools. Two years ago, they finished seventh. With a denser team this year as far as field events, the odds of recording a high-placing finish are in their favor.
Coach Clay Calkins has faith in the team’s abilities and hopes that the work they have put in during practice will translate in their MAC meet performances.
“Practice went well this week and we hope to have our best performances of the year in each of the events,” Calkins said in an e-mail.
The team has improved in hurdles, horizontal jump and throws during practices this week, which are the same events Calkins hopes to “capitalize” on in the MAC meet.
Distance running is one of Ohio’s strong suits, but it is also an area that features some pretty fierce competition.
“The toughest competition will be in the distance events,” Calkins said. “Toledo and EMU have some of the top distance runners in the country.”
