Though it doesn’t seem like much of a win because the Cavs have a star-studded team — unlike the Jazz. But the win holds a little more weight than people might think. The Cavs now have a winning streak going, and they played exactly as they should’ve against a team like the Jazz.
After pummeling the Utah Jazz Wednesday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers are on a four-game winning streak. Though it doesn’t seem like much of a win because the Cavs have a star-studded team — unlike the Jazz. But the win holds a little more weight than people might think. The Cavs now have a winning streak going, and they played exactly as they should’ve against a team like the Jazz.
Championship teams have most of the kinks in their game filled out before they reach the playoffs. This ensures that they have the most effective team going into the elimination games. If this Cavs team wants to make it deep in the playoffs, there can’t be any speed bumps in the road; They need to roll over these kinds of teams regularly.
The Cavs started the season out hot, and then slowly declined. No one is blaming this team because they are a brand new group of guys coming together. I think everyone expected LeBron James to come onto the scene and the Cavs would never lose again. If you’re someone who thought that, then I’m sorry you had to see the harsh reality of sports. It just doesn’t work out that way. These guys have never played together before, and most of the newly acquired Cavs players haven’t even been to the playoffs. It’s going to be a big test for these guys when they get on the court and everyone has a winner-take-all mentality.
LeBron is definitely going to be a huge factor for this team if they make it to the championship, but they need to work together as a team to get there first. One man can’t take on five. With a new coach who’s new to the NBA, LeBron is the only guy on this squad who’s experienced leading a team to a championship, so he has to be the leader.
But the Cavs are starting to get on a roll, and they’ll have a good test coming up this weekend when Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder come to Cleveland. If they want to be taken as a serious threat in this league, those are the games they should be circling on their calendar. If they can get hot now, they just might be able to carry that through to the playoffs and once you get into the playoffs and your team has its mojo rolling, magical things can happen.
