Ohio football redshirt freshman Justin Wyatt was released from the Bobcats on Wednesday.
Ohio coach Frank Solich signed release papers on Wednesday for Justin Wyatt, who has announced he is leaving the program.
Wyatt, a Lawrenceville, Georgia native, will finish the fall semester and take his exams, but will not travel with the Bobcats if they make a bowl game. He says he is transferring to Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California. Wyatt plans to play football there.
“(I’m) going to a place where I can put up numbers and here isn't the place,” Wyatt told The Post in a Twitter direct message conversation. “(Ohio) just wasn't for me. Not gonna bash the program but just wasn't for me. Offensively I came for a spread offense not a conservative run team.”
An Ohio Athletics spokesperson didn’t offer comment about the release or whether any others were released from their scholarships.
Wyatt came to Ohio as a three-star recruit, according to ESPN. He appeared in two games this season, but didn’t record any statistics.
The 6-foot-1, 191-pound wide receiver received a redshirt last season after suffering an injury during the preseason.
