For the first time in the past six seasons, Ohio will not make a postseason appearance in a bowl game.
Although the Bobcats (6-6) were bowl-eligible after winning against Miami to end the regular season, they were not offered a bid for a bowl game, which were announced on Sunday. After playing in five consecutive bowls — and winning two of those games — the Bobcats’ season ended in November for the first time since 2008.
Sunday, the Mid-American Conference announced the teams playing in its guaranteed tie-ins with five bowls: the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Western Michigan), Raycom Media Camellia Bowl (Bowling Green), Boca Raton Bowl (Northern Illinois), Popeyes Bahamas Bowl (Central Michigan) and the GoDaddy Bowl (Toledo).
Redshirt junior quarterback Derrius Vick was one of a few players who used social media after learning the Bobcats weren’t making a bowl. Vick tweeted “our coach told us already today that we weren't selected.”

Ohio was one of 71 bowl-eligible teams, but its résumé likely didn’t stack up well compared to the other teams vying for a bid. None of the teams the Bobcats defeated this season finished with a winning record and they lost on the road to their most-prolific non-conference opponents, Kentucky (5-7, 2-6 Southeastern Conference) and Marshall (11-1, 7-1 Conference USA).
