High winds in Athens County Monday have left more than 4,000 residents without power countywide.
AEP Ohio's website reports that 4,089 of their customers in Athens County were without electricity, as of 2:10 p.m.
That represents just under 15 percent of AEP Ohio's total number of customers in the county, according to the site.
Late Monday morning, the Richland Area Volunteer Fire Department responded to a downed power line on County Road 17, just south of the city of Athens.
The road was cleared within the hour.
Athens County will continue to be under a High Wind Advisory until 8 p.m. Monday night. Gusts may be as swift as 50 mph, according to a release from Alert Athens County.
