Police Blotter: Police deal with stolen potty, glued door, other sticky crimes

Local law enforcement officers had some messy situations to deal with in the last week.

Local law enforcement officers had some messy situations to deal with in the last week.

Last Monday morning, Ohio University Police  officers responded to a call reporting that a porta-potty had been stolen from the Park Place  construction site outside of Alden Library.

Over the weekend, a pair  of OUPD officers  responded to a criminal mischief call Saturday afternoon  at Bromley Hall.  Upon arrival, officers found what appeared to be super glue  squeezed into the keyhole of a door handle on the 9th floor, according to a report.

OU’s maintenance staff was contacted to clean up the glue and the case is currently labeled as inactive.

Reports of assault were also included in last week’s reports. The Athens Police Department responded to a report of an altercation that occurred on Wednesday . According to the report, “the victim was assaulted with a hammer.”

A man was later arrested and charged with “felonious assault.”

OUPD also arrested a man in connection with assault. Officers responded to a call Friday at Brough House about a physical altercation between a man and a woman. The investigation revealed the male had entered the woman’s residence by means of “force, stealth or deception, and subsequently assaulted her.”

That man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree  felony aggravated burglary  and was transported to the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.

OUPD received seven  theft reports from Oct. 27  to Nov. 2 , one of which included the missing porta potty.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, 10  fake  IDs were turned over to OUPD by the Resident Life Staff at Crawford Hall. The items were brought to the department for destruction.

The department also saw nine  alcohol-related violations by the end of last week. On one account, on Friday, a woman was found passed out, lying in a pool of vomit, in the hallway of Bush Hall.  That woman was issued a minor misdemeanor  citation, according to the report.

A day later, two men were arrested and removed from the Scotty McCreery w/ Danielle Bradbery  concert Saturday  due to their intoxicated state, according to an OUPD report.
