“What does the Student Senate have against freedom of speech and assembly? According to The Post’s report on the proposed campaign regulation, the senate would deny candidates the right to canvas, host public events or hang fliers or banners for a period from 28 to 14 days before a senate election.”

The Ohio Constitution says: “The people have the right to assemble together, in a peaceful manner, to consult for their common good; to instruct their representatives; and to to petition the general assembly for redress of their grievances.”
So freedom of assembly is in the state bill of rights. That means the senate has no authority to deny students the right to assemble or publicize such assemblies.
