#AthensVotes Midterm Elections 2014

Check back throughout Tuesday night for results as we get them.

A number of public officers are up for grabs in Athens County, Columbus and Washington, D.C. Tuesday.

Stick with @ThePostLocal for results throughout the night. Post reporters are Uptown with candidates at staked out at the Athens County Board of Elections, where cars started dropping off ballots shortly after polls closed statewide at 7:30 p.m.

Athens County Auditor:

Unofficial results as of 9:15 p.m. with 14,069 ballots counted, 100 percent of precincts:

Kathy Hecht (D-challenger): 41.59 percent, with 5,852 votes

Jill Thompson (R-incumbent): 58.41 percent, with 8,217 votes

Ohio General Assembly:

Unofficial results as of 9:25 p.m. with 28,436 ballots counted in District 94.

Debbie Phillips (D-incumbent): 50.34 percent, with 14,315 votes

Yolan Dennis (R-challenger): 49.66 percent, with 14,121 votes

Athens County Common Pleas Court Judge:

Unofficial results as of 9:15 p.m., with 12,339 ballots counted, 100 percent of precincts.

George McCarthy (incumbent): 56.46 precent, with 6,966 votes

Herman Carson (challenger): 43.54 percent, with 5,373 votes

U.S. House of Representatives:

Unofficial results as of 10:30 p.m., with 121 precincts left to tally in Franklin County.

Steve Stivers (R-incumbent): 66.18 percent, with 125,775 votes

Scott Wharton (D-challenger): 33.82 percent, with 64,289 votes

Other races:

The Associated Press called the Ohio gubernatorial race a minute after polls closed. The AP said Republican Gov. John Kasich was reelected over embattled Democratic challenger Ed FitzGerald.

Shortly after, the AP also released that Republican Attorney General Mike DeWine, Secretary of State Jon Husted and Auditor Dave Yost won their respective races for reelection.
