Police Blotter: Dead squirrel left in dorm, Ohio University club car stolen

Students in Scott Quad might've noticed their hall smelled like dead squirrel Sunday.

Last week’s activity for local police included the typical grind of cases related to drugs and alcohol, but at least one was a bit nutty.

Ohio University Police Department received a report on Sunday afternoon that someone placed a dead squirrel on the door of room 200 in Scott Quadrangle.

A student in Wilson Hall logged a report just after midnight Wednesday after finding something similarly unpleasant outside his door. That student told OUPD that someone had thrown trash in front of his door, according to a police report.

On Friday, a female student reported that she was bitten by a dog while walking outside Martzolff House on South Green. The dog and owner have not been identified, according to an OUPD report.

OUPD saw nine violations of alcohol-related laws between last Monday and Sunday. In one of those incidents, on Saturday morning, a man was arrested after an officer observed him walking unsteadily across University Terrace. The officer said in the report that the man’s pants were unzipped and it appeared that he had urinated on himself.

Another man was charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication after being sighted falling into and knocking over the security fence next to Peden Stadium on Saturday.

Cases of theft were also included in last week’s reports. OUPD received four theft reports from Oct. 6 to Oct. 12. Police are investigating a missing OU club car that was reportedly stolen at Peden Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Athens City police received three theft reports on Sunday — all three of which involved pilfered iPhone 5s. Each iPhone cost from $250 to $350.
