An Ohio University student was charged Tuesday with “fleeing and eluding a felony” after a lengthy police chase that went in and out of the City of Athens Tuesday afternoon.
At about 2 p.m., Athens police pursued a motorcyclist for reckless operation and speeding. The pursuit began on E. State St. and continued outside Athens on U.S. Rt. 50, then west toward Albany, according to a police report.
Jacob Gussler, 20, who was driving a 2001 Kawasaki ZX6R motorcycle, continued onto Radford Road and eventually drove back into Athens. The pursuit ended on South Green Drive near the Ping Center.
Police did not specify if Gussler crashed or how the chase ended.
Gussler, of New Lexington, OH, is scheduled to appear in Athens Municipal Court on Wednesday.
