Homecoming came and went, but for the Marching 110, the show must go on. The band will take the field for its standard halftime performance as well as the post-game show.
Ohio University’s Marching 110 is playing a mixture of hit songs including “We Are Done” by The Madden Brothers, “Sing” by Ed Sheeran, “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy and the dance tune “Superbad” by Jesse McCartney.
After the annual parade and performance with the alumni band, the Marching 110 must return to its usually routine. The 110 is striving to put on an equally impressive show despite the rain and limited on field practice time to learn an almost entirely new show, said Josh Boyer, assistant director of the Marching 110.
“You get yourself so geared up for homecoming and work so hard during that week,” Boyer said. “There is this kind of dip a little bit after homecoming, but you’re right back to work.”
The Marching 110 lost a practice on the field due to weather and had an inside rehearsal instead. The expectations are still the same for the halftime performance, Boyer said.
“We keep going back and working harder,” said Matt Brenner, a freshman studying mechanical engineering and a tenor saxophone player in the 110. “We always strive to make something better.”
Sunday’s game is also Youth Day, a day for youth football teams around the area to attend the game. The young kids are helping the Marching 110 form the tunnel the Bobcat players run through onto the field, Boyer said.
