Harsh and partisan attacks on current County Auditor Jill Thompson are unwarranted.

I have been impressed with the strong support our County Auditor Jill Thompson is receiving from the citizens of Athens County. Even more impressive are the numbers of Democrats who have written letters to our local newspapers in support of Jill and have displayed her campaign signs in their yards. I know about her honesty, integrity and work ethic. A few years ago, I hired Jill to work in the County Auditor’s Office. She has served us well over the years, continues to make improvements in technology and efficiency and has a great staff who work very hard for the citizens of Athens County.
Among the most troubling partisan complaints are that she questioned many of the actions of our now suspended and indicted sheriff that she did not cooperate with him in his efforts to evade and ignore state laws.
Jill’s efforts have been recognized by the very positive endorsements from The Athens News and The Athens Messenger. The extremely harsh and partisan attacks on Jill are disturbing and show a lack of understanding of the office of County Auditor.
Please support Jill Thompson and return her to continue to serve all the citizens of Athens County.
