Fluff Bakery serves a selection of alcohol that can now be paired with dinner items that the bakery made available on Tuesday.

Fluff expands to serve Thai, alcohol

Fluff Bakery expanding to include Rickshaw Thai, sell alcohol and have table service.

Fluff Bakery & Catering is changing.

The business will now offer table service, Thai food and serve alcohol. It’ll also change its name to “The Fluff.”

Fluff, located at 8 N. Court St., will combine with Rickshaw Thai, previously located in the Plains.

Jessica and Jason Kopelwitz own both restaurants.

Fluff serves beer, wine and mead, including four Jackie O’s brews and a Columbus-made mead. Prices range from $3 to $9 for a glass. Wine is served by the bottle as well, for $25 or $26 depending on the drink.

Fluff will be open seven days a week and will eventually offer liquor-infused drinks, including espresso, juice, “boozy milkshakes” and brunch items, Jessica said.

“It’s going to be a very comfort food-oriented menu,” she said.

The Fluff will have a new logo with the tagline “Kitchen, Bakery and Drinks.”

“For us, our biggest focus is quality, sustainability and the people who work for us, because that provides the best customer experience,” Jessica said.

Rickshaw previously only served dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

Rickshaw will continue to cater at the West End Ciderhouse on Tuesday and Jackie O’s Taproom on Thursday. Both dinners are $10.

Jason is the head of the kitchen for both the bakery and the Thai concept, and Jessica mainly works in the front of the restaurant.

“I love Fluff — that’s my favorite bakery,” said Dottie Kramer, a sophomore studying journalism. “I think it’s a great idea (that it’s expanding). I think they’re going to get a bigger crowd.”

One of Jessica’s favorite Rickshaw items is the Bombay, house-marinated pork, spicy mint-cilantro chutney and ginger pickled napa cabbage served on a French roll as a sandwich or on rice and spring greens as a salad. Both are sold for $12 and are very spicy.

Another popular item is the fish cake tacos, which are spicy fish cakes topped with cucumber relish and served on corn tortillas. Two tacos sell for $10. Spicy fish cakes are an appetizer with two cakes for $5 or four for $9.

Fluff hasn’t expanded its kitchen yet, but Jessica said she anticipates a full renovation sometime next year.

“We’re trying to have something for everyone,” she said.
