The crash happened on State Route 550.
An Athens woman was killed and a Chillicothe woman was injured Sunday morning after a two vehicle collision on State Route 550 in Athens County, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report.
Mindy Mohney, 29, was travelling west on Route 550 when her 2001 Chevrolet Lumina went left of center, striking another vehicle head on, according to the report. Mindy “succumbed to her injuries at the scene” while the driver of the other vehicle suffered incapacitating injuries and was transported to Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital via ACEMS.
Mindy was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report, and the speed in which she was travelling was unknown, however, the other vehicle was travelling at 55 mph. The accident occurred about 9 a.m. The highway was closed for about two hours after.
