Freshman Megan Silveira and senior goalie Brittany Walker were named the Mid American Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the week, respectively, this afternoon after the two assisted the Bobcats in wins over Ohio State and Longwood.
Silveira, who hails from Kitchener, Ontario, notched her first collegiate goal against Ohio State, as her lone goal lead the Bobcats to it’s first win of the season.
The goal came in a second half scrum in front of the Buckeye’s goal, as Silveira’s goal helped Ohio beat Ohio State for the first time in three years.
Walker, who hails from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, anchored the Bobcat’s defense over last week, as she saved eight shots in both wins.
Walker had two critical saves against the Buckeyes and Lancers, as Ohio’s win over Longwood went into a shootout after four periods of play.
After starting 0-3. the Bobcats are now tied with Miami on top of the MAC standings with the Bobcats’ facing Indiana on Saturday.
