Post editor Jim Ryan thanks you for reading, and encourages to continue following our football coverage throughout the season.
Post Sports Editor Chad Lindskog has racked up more than 900 miles on his Ford Fusion during the past three weeks.
He and his staff have been tracking the Ohio football team during its first three games — filing stories and photographs from three different states and keeping you, our readers, up to date on everything Bobcats football.
For him, and many of you, it has to feel good to be home.
This special-edition football issue was constructed with that feeling in mind.
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of walking into Peden Stadium — the “crown jewel of the Mid-American Conference,” as public address announcer Lou Horvath would say — and finding a seat among the swath of green-and-white diehards cheering on the home team.
I’m as excited as anyone to feel the surge of the crown roar after every Bobcats first down or defensive stop, hear the cannon blast from beyond the north end zone after an Ohio score, and, of course, watch the Marching 110 strut its stuff between halves.
If you haven’t tuned in to the Bobcats’ early-season away games, you can catch up on how they’ve done by flipping through these pages.
If you’re looking for the Reader’s Digest version, here it is:
Ohio beat MAC foe Kent State in its season opener on Aug. 30, knocking off the Golden Flashes with a last-second field goal from the foot of kicker Josiah Yazdani.
The Bobcats were stagnant offensively the following Saturday, falling to Kentucky in front of almost 52,000 fans at Commonwealth Stadium.
Marshall dismantled the Ohio defense in a 44-14 shelling last week, racking up 705 offensive yards en route to its first “Battle of the Bell” win in four years.
Needless to say, Ohio is looking to bounce back against Idaho — a team that it has faced only twice (both during the 1970s) during its 120 seasons of football.
Our reporters and photographers will be on hand to chronicle the action Saturday, and you can follow along on Twitter during the game by following @ThePostSports. Our website, www.thepostathens.com, will be updated with a story shortly after the final snap. We post photos from the game to Facebook (ThePostAthens).
You get the idea: If you like what you see here, you can find a lot more of it online.
There are still nine games left in the football season — six at home — so stick with us for continued coverage. We’ll be there to chronicle every twist and turn.
Enjoy the game, Bobcats fans. And as always, thanks for reading.
