Ohio University has been recognized for its academics on an international level, being ranked by the Center for World University Rankings, according to a university news release.
OU came in at 464 on the world rankings out of more than 22,000 “best universities in the world." The Saudi Arabia-based organization also released rankings by country. OU ranks 149 of the 969 universities ranked in the U.S. The national list ranked Ohio State University at 47, and Harvard University at 1.
“Ohio University is very pleased to be recognized for our commitment to excellence,” said President Roderick McDavis, in the news release. “Our recent rankings speak to the value of transformative education, and we will continue to make strategic investments to support this unique learning community.”
CWUR has been publishing its list annually since 2012. According to cwur.org, the universities were ranked based on a series of factors, including alumni employment, quality of faculty and quality of education. Combined, these factors determine 75 percent of a university's rank.
Quality of education alone makes up 25 percent of the total ranking criteria. It is determined by the number of the university’s alumni who have received international awards in relation to the university’s size.
