Women's Golf: Bobcats finish tenth out of 15 teams at Dolores Black Falcon Invitational

For the third straight weekend, Ohio finished in the top ten teams of a tournament.

In this past weekend’s Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, Ohio finished tenth out of 15 teams in Bowling Green after the Bobcats shot a combined score of 653 for 77 strokes over par. However, that is a considerable drop in team performance from last weekend when they finished fifth in Eastern Kentucky.

However, Ohio was within five strokes of eighth place, which was held by Akron.

Ohio had one member finish in the top 20 individually, as sophomore Angela Codian finished in a three-way tie for 15th place after shooting a two-day total of 15-over-par. She shot an 80 on both days of competition and was only five strokes away from finishing fourth.

There were also seven ties for top-20 finishes.  Freshman Hailey Hrynewich, who had great success in the past two tournaments, recorded a first round 79, which was seven strokes over par. She struggled in the second round, though, and shot 84 which, to finish, tied for 26th place.

The Bobcats could not shake the weather which has now followed them for two weekends in a row. On Sunday, the winds on the course were blowing over 20 miles per hour. Wind is always a major factor for a golfer as the player must adjust nearly every aspect of their swing to account for wind speeds and the direction of the wind.

Host team and Mid-American Conference rival Bowling Green had plenty of success this weekend. The Falcons finished third overall on the weekend and sophomore Lily Bartell won first place after shooting a two-day total of 151, which was seven strokes over par.

Ohio has one tournament remaining before the MAC Championship at the end of April. The Bobcats will head to the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus next, where they will compete all weekend.
