Too many failed attempts to spell customers' names results in new Campus Cafe rule.

The Pest: Cafe not even trying anymore

After a long tradition of horribly botching the first names of at least two-thirds of its customers, management staff at the Campus Cafe confirmed Tuesday that it would no longer ask its employees to try to spell anyone’s name correctly on the sides of its coffee cups.

“Our staff is busy enough as it is trying to make sure each caramel-drizzle soy-milk cappuccino with a shot of espresso and light whipped cream is made to order, so they really don’t have time to ask you which of the 20 variations of ‘Haley’ your parents decided to give you,” Campus Cafe manager Caff Een said.

“I totally had enough when six different girls named Katie came in and all six of their names were spelled differently,” Bre Wedd said. “Are you kidding me?”

Though employees are looking forward to the new rule, some students disagree with the policy.

“I was very offended that the barista wrote ‘Brian’ on my cup when my name is actually spelled ‘Bryanne.’ I don’t get what’s so difficult about that,” Bryanne Smyth said. “When people spell my name wrong it reminds me that I’m not famous and not as special as I think I am, which I’m not OK with at all.”

Campus Cafe management hinted that other new policies were in the works, including one that would allow employees to throw away any drinks that are not claimed within 10 seconds after being set down on the counter.
