Just six days after being sworn into office, Megan Marzec, Student Senate's new president, is showing how different she plans to be from her predecessors.
The body, tasked with representing Ohio University's students, will be holding on open forum with the newly elected senators and members of the OU administration Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Bobcat Student Lounge, according to an email sent to students, faculty and staff Tuesday evening.
The lounge is located on the first floor of Baker University Center across from West 82.
The meeting is held every year in order for the senators to be able to start a relationship with the administration as they prepare to represent students in the coming academic year.
In previous years, the senators have met with the administration in private, but senate decided to open the meeting up to everyone including students, faculty and staff, Marzec wrote in the campus-wide email.
"We're looking forward to engaging in the beginning of a lasting dialogue," Marzec said in the email.
"With the election of the Restart ticket, we will be setting the tone of an open student government which emphasizes direct dialog between all members of the (university) community."
Marzec's Restart ticket, which won a majority of seats in the recent senate election, campaigned on direct communication between all students and OU's adminstration.
Marzec was not immediately available for comment beyond her email.
